Robert Stewart Lamson, 77, of Hilo died Feb. 17 at home. Born in Hot Springs, S.D., he was a special assistant to the chancellor and interim dean of students at University of Hawaii at Hilo, manager of Floral Resources/Hawaii, owned Scot’s Ltd. and Carousel Women’s Clothing Stores in Boulder, Colo., Buttrey’s Clothing stores in Minneapolis and Plastics Manufacturing Co. of Kalamazoo, Mich., played football for legendary coach Bear Bryant at Texas A&M, and was a member of UHH Vulcan Booster Club, UHH Performing Arts Center and Rotary Club of Hilo Bay. His final gift was to donate his body to the University of Hawaii John A. Burns School of Medicine for research. Private services; no flowers or koden (monetary gifts). Survived by wife, Adrienne “Ami” Inouye Lamson; daughter, Cassie Lamson; and brother, C. Kent Lamson of Lansing, Mich.
